PDF to Word
Convert PDF to editable Word (DOCX) — extract text, preserve paragraphs and layout.
Use Cases
Typical scenarios for PDF to Word — see if it fits before you start
Thesis & report re-edit
An advisor-annotated PDF needs to become Word for paragraph and heading edits. PDF to Word extracts text layer and restores layout locally, preserving heading levels, indents and tables so you can track changes directly in Word; if scanned it prompts OCR to searchable PDF first — for students and RAs.
Contract clause edit
Scanned contracts as image PDFs cannot be searched or copied, forcing manual retyping. PDF to Word supports both paths: text PDFs are extracted directly, scanned PDFs go via local Tesseract OCR, preserving clause numbers and indents for search/copy/compare — all locally, protecting trade secrets.
Report data reuse
Tables in a financial PDF must be pasted into a Word summary, manual retyping is error-prone. PDF to Word supports page-range and batch queue, restores rows/columns and numbers so you can adjust widths and formulas directly in Word — for finance and ops.
How to Use
- Upload — Click or drag PDF/images to the dashed zone. Multi-file and large files (<100MB per batch recommended) are read locally only.
- Configure & process — Set pages, angle, password or quality, then hit “Calculate / Process”. PDF to Word runs via WebAssembly and pdf-lib in your browser — no server queue.
- Preview & download — Check pages, size and thumbnails on the right, then download. Batch jobs download one by one; tweak and re-run if needed.
Tips & Notes
- Page syntax: Use
1,3,5-7or1-10,15; empty means all. Out-of-range pages are ignored. - Privacy & size: Everything runs locally — no server upload. For large files, process in batches of 50–100 pages.
- Fidelity: Fonts and vectors are preserved where possible. For scanned PDFs, run OCR/searchable PDF first, then convert.
Fonctionnalités
- Keep paragraph/heading/table layout
- Text & scanned (→ OCR) PDFs
- Page ranges & batch
Supported Formats
All conversions run locally in the browser; check fidelity in desktop for complex layouts.
FAQ
Layout messed up after conversion? How to improve fidelity?
PDF to Word extracts text layer and restores paragraph/table structure. Pure text and simple tables are ~90% faithful, but multi-column, complex headers or scanned images may shift. Check if source is scanned (no selectable text) → run “OCR PDF” first; then verify heading levels and table widths in Word, or round-trip via “Word to PDF” to compare.
Scanned & batch supported?
Yes. Text PDFs extract directly; scanned ones prompt local Tesseract OCR (~65KB + lang packs on demand), then convert by page range in queue. For 50+ pages, split by “1-20 / 21-50” to avoid memory spikes, then track changes in Word.
Keep fonts and vector charts?
Best effort — font subsets and vector paths are preserved. For complex charts, re-export PDF from Word to compare. If source has watermark/background, run “Remove Watermark/Whiteout” first for cleaner layout.
