Tips & Notes
- Page syntax: Use
1,3,5-7or1-10,15; empty means all. Out-of-range pages are ignored. - Privacy & size: Everything runs locally — no server upload. For large files, process in batches of 50–100 pages.
- Fidelity: Fonts and vectors are preserved where possible. For scanned PDFs, run OCR/searchable PDF first, then convert.

How much quality loss after compression? How to balance size vs clarity?
Compress PDF uses font subsetting, object dedup and image resampling. At “Balanced” a 5MB scan often shrinks to ~1.5MB with no visible loss at 300DPI; tables and seals stay sharp. For smaller targets switch to “Strong” and preview first/last pages. Test on one sample page before batching the whole report.
Why does size sometimes increase?
Already highly compressed scans or vector-heavy PDFs may gain metadata on re-sampling. Try “Light” or “Balanced”, keep “preserve resolution” on, or run “Optimize PDF” first to clean redundant objects, then compress again for steadier savings.
How to batch compress to 2MB?
Pick “Target 2MB” preset; the tool iteratively compresses by page range and image quality, showing before/after (e.g., 8.2MB → 1.9MB, 77% saved). If still over, split by “1-50 / 51-100”, compress each, then “Merge PDF” back — ideal for OA/email limits.
